NEW DELHI, 16 SEPT: Former Union law minister Mr Shanti Bhushan today told the Supreme Court that at least eight of the 16 Chief Justices of India (CJIs) were "definitely corrupt".

In an affidavit filed today, senior counsel Mr Shanti Bhushan said that six of the CJIs were "definitely honest" and he could not comment on the remaining two judges.

The senior counsel sought to be impleaded in a case in which his son Mr Prashant Bhushan is facing contempt proceedings.

Sixteen CJIs that Mr Bhushan has mentioned in his affidavit are: Mr Justice Rangnath Mishra, Mr Justice KN Singh, Mr Justice MH Kaina, Mr Justice LM Sharma, Mr Justice MN Venkatachalliah, Mr Justice AM Ahemadi, Mr Justice JS Verma, Mr Justice MM Punchhi, Mr Justice AS Anand, Mr Justice SP Bharucha, Mr Justice BN Kirpal, Mr Justice GB Pathak, Mr Justice Rajendra Babu, Mr Justice RC Lohati, Mr Justice VN Khare and Mr Justice YK Sabharwal.
