I recently found this list of the ten most stressful events in a person's life.  Many of us have been through or are living through such events right now.

But even more common stressors are the THREAT of one of the events or the worry about one of them.  Worry and imagination of these events put the brain and body through the same feelings, thus the same stresses, as if they actually existed.  Past memories or future imaginations are just as destructive to the immune system and the nerves as actually living in the midst of the problem.  The brain puts out the same stress chemicals into the blood stream and the body suffers because the brain suffers. 

 

Case in Point: my client Jody.  She suffered from constant neck pain.  She had not been able to find relief from a chiropractor or any of the home remedies she tried.  As we talked I learned of her background which involved abuse and drug addiction.  These problems no longer existed in her present life, but the memories of them still troubled her mind, which passed the suffering along to her body.  We worked the process on different aspects of each of these, and as we brought her mind into peace and relaxation, her pain disappeared, literally in minutes! 

 

We didn't remove her memories.  They are all still there.  But we directed her brain into a better way to think of them, so it no longer suffered.  The brain no longer suffered, so the body was no longer punished.
