Three day training  programme by NHRC-IGNOU for the trainers of police personnel on human rights concludes New Delhi, June 15th, 2011   The National Human Rights Commission, NHRC, in collaboration with IGNOU organized a three day training programme in human rights for the trainers of the police personnel at IGNOU Campus, New Delhi today. The programme was attended by twenty two senior level police officers from states including Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand and Arunachal Pradesh.   The aim of this training of trainers programme is to prepare a group of master trainers in all states who would be able to facilitate and moderate the basic online training programme for police personnel at cutting edge to be conducted at state/district level across the country.    The police officers were addressed by Prof. V.N. Rajasekharan Pillai, Vice Chancellor, IGNOU, Mr. J.S. Kochher, Joint Secretary (Trg.), NHRC and Ms. Mamta Singh, DIG, NHRC, Prof. K. Ellumalai, Director, Prof. Umakanji Lal and Ms. Mansi Sharma, Program Coordinator (School of Law) IGNOU.   Earlier, a basic online course in human rights for police personnel was launched by Mr. Justice K.G. Balakrishnan, Chairperson, NHRC and Prof. V.N. Rajasekharan Pillai, Vice Chancellor, IGNOU on the 1st February, 2011, as per an MoU.
