Here's some things we thought you should know about... do forward if you think it's useful.

Freedom for PalestineFreedom for Palestine, the single

Palestine is in crisis. Today Palestinians face daily human rights abuse and live in crushing poverty in refugee camps and under Israeli occupation. In response to this injustice, a group of international musicians are releasing the song Freedom for Palestine by OneWorld. Featuring: Maxi Jazz (Faithless), Dave Randall (Slovo/Faithless), LSK, the Durban Gospel Choir, Jamie Catto (1 Giant Leap) and musicians from around the world.

The single is released on 3 July, but you can pre-order now to ensure it has the best chance of getting into the charts. If this happens it will be an important step towards building the level of popular consciousness that the struggle against Apartheid in South Africa eventually achieved. And the proceeds will go to War on Want's partners in Palestine, including the brilliant grassroots Stop the Wall campaign.

Red Pepper coverRed Pepper needs Friends

Independent radical left magazine Red Pepper was started 16 years ago, and is still going despite the odds being stacked against independent publishers. It features news, resources, analysis and international coverage which draws on socialist, feminist, green and libertarian traditions, but has no single line - just what the nascent movement against austerity needs. If you've not come across it, check it out at www.redpepper.org.uk

Right now, Red Pepper is facing a bit of a financial hump. So if you know the magazine already, and value it, why not become a 'Friend of Red Pepper'? Friends pay a regular amount each month to give the magazine financial sustainability, and get a free subscription for as long as they keep paying.

We need radical media! www.redpepper.org.uk/friend

J30: Support the strikes

Teachers and civil servants will be striking on June 30 over attemtps to serious erode their pension rights. This could be the beginning of a serious fight on the part of the trade unions against the cuts and privatisation agenda of the government. If you're not in a striking union, you can still join in, and at the same time condemn the royals for their acceptance of huge benefit hand-outs totalling £100,millions extra each year.
* UK Uncut are organising the 'Big Society Breakfast' to encourage people to bring solidarity to the picket lines.
* There are also meetings around the country to organise solidarity.

'Debtocracy' screenings

Debtocracy is an excellent Greek film which "seeks the causes of the debt crisis and proposes solutions, hidden by the government and the dominant media." (see this Guardian review). Jubilee Debt Campaign is looking for people who want to help put on local screenings. If you're interested, contact them.
