Review for the week ended 17th July, 2010 (26 Asadha, 1932 Saka)

The WPI for the week ended 17th July, 2010 in respect of 'Primary Articles' and 'Fuel. Power, Light & Lubricants' is given below:

 

PRIMARY ARTICLES (Weight 22.02%)

The index for this major group rose by 0.4 percent to 308.8 (Provisional) from 307.5 (Provisional) for the previous week.

The annual rate of inflation, calculated on point to point basis, stood at 14.50 percent (Provisional) for the week ended 17/07/2010 (over 18/07/2009) as compared to 16.48 percent (Provisional) for the previous week (ended 10/07/2010) and 8.18 percent during the corresponding week (ended 18/07/2009) of the previous year.

 

The groups and items for which the index showed variations during the week are as follows:-

The index for  'Food Articles' group rose by 0.6 percent to 299.3 (Provisional) from 297.6 (Provisional) for the previous week due to higher prices of fish-marine (3%), gram and milk (2% each) and mutton, urad, wheat, tea and maize (1% each).  However, the prices of fish-inland and rice (1% each) declined.

The index for 'Non-Food Articles' group rose by 0.2 percent to 288.6 (Provisional) from 288.1 (Provisional) for the previous week due to higher prices of rape & mustard seed and sunflower (2% each) and raw silk, raw jute, groundnut seed and copra (1% each).  However, the prices of raw cotton (1%) declined.

 

FUEL, POWER, LIGHT & LUBRICANTS (Weight 14.23%)

The index for this major group declined by 0.1 percent to 386.3 (Provisional) from 386.7 (Provisional) for the previous week due to lower prices of naphtha, light diesel oil and furnace oil (1% each).  The annual rate of inflation, calculated on point to point basis stood at 14.29 percent (Provisional) for the week ended 17/07/2010 over 18/07/2009 as compared to 14.27 percent (Provisional)for the previous week (ended 10/07/2010) and (-) 10.63 percent during the corresponding week (ended 18/07/2009) of the previous year.

Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers

No Shortage of NPK Fertilizers Including Factamfos In Kerala: Shri Jena

New Delhi: July 29, 2010.

 

Fertilizers and Chemicals Travancore Ltd. (FACT) has supplied 23,318 MT of Factamfos against the movement plan of 24,000 MT in the state of Kerala in June, 2010.  As on date, there are no reports of shortage of Factamfos in Kerala.  However, the month-wise requirement and availability of NPK (including Factamfos) fertilizers in the state is as follows:-

            As can be seen there is no shortage of NPK fertilizers which includes Factamfos in the state during current season.

            The Government proposes to optimize the production capacity of fertilizer plants including Fertilizers and Chemicals Travancore Ltd. (FACT).  The production plan of FACT for the year 2010-11 envisages the production of 8.00 lakh MT of Factamfos and 2.25 lakh MT of Ammonium sulphate as against the production of 7.53 lakh MT of Factamfos and 1.79 lakh MT of Ammonium sulphate during the year 2009-10.  During the current year after completing the annual turnaround work in April-May 2010, FACT has produced 1.97 lakh MT of Factamfos and 0.4 lakh MT of Ammonium Sulphate up to 24.7.2010.

            This information was given by the Minister of State for Chemicals and Fertilizers Shri Srikant Kumar Jena in a written reply in the Lok Sabha today.

Ministry of Rural Development

RD Ministry Releases Rs.83.60 Crores Under SGSY to Uttar Pradesh

New Delhi: July 29, 2010.

 

 

The Ministry of Rural Development has released grant-in-aid worth  Rs.83,60,37000/-           (Rs. Eighty three  crore sixty lakh  thirty seven thousand only)  as part payment of 1st instalment of central share of funds for the implementation of centrally sponsored Swarnjayanti Gram Swarojgar Yojana  to be spread over 69 districts of  Uttar Pradesh  during the current financial year 2010-11.  The amount of grant will be released to respective District Rural Development Agencies.
